D500. Kingfisher.

So looking back through the picture catalogue it’s been almost 2 years since I started following a Kingfisher (or Kingfishers) at a neighbours small stream. I’ve taken many pictures – and seen many more things I want to photograph.

This was the first grab photograph taken while checking out the location with a Nikon V3 on July 27th 2014.

The male Kingfisher has only been seen occasionally. The stretch of the stream I have access to is clearly a females territory.

2016 is following a similar pattern to last year. At some point in early-ish Spring the female vanishes (29th March in 2015 and 3rd of April in 2016). Then for 2 or 3 months I see very little action at the stream. I can go off and find other things to photograph.

Then the Kingfisher returns !

So far this year only a male has returned but I’m expecting that to change …

Todays photographs.
